At 53, Jacqui Kapinowski has an athletic career most would envy. She has competed in 80 marathons, six triathlons, has seven national titles and has been a member of three USA teams. And she didn’t let her wheelchair slow her down. 
One was born about a week earlier than expected. Another met his family a week past his due date. On January 1, they became the first babies born at Martin Health System in 2018.
Looking out at the St. Lucie River from his room at Martin Medical Center in Stuart while recovering from a massive heart attack, United States Navy veteran Mike Carter, age 67, thought about his time on the water. Homeless and without health insurance, the public assistance and case management teams at Martin Health System worked behind the scenes to obtain both Medicare and Social Security for him.

The hunt was on. Three hours after Martin County residents Steve Sapienza and Rob Marks launched their high-altitude balloon to the edge of space Sunday morning with the help of friends Chad McComas and Patrick Setliff, the group was following its last GPS pings to a dairy farm in Okeechobee.

By day they are office managers, health care professionals and junior network administrators. When they clock out, they become designers, painters and seamstresses meticulously perfecting their alter egos. They are cosplayers.
In response to Cecil the lion's death in 2015, veteran Disney animator Aaron Blaise “wanted to do something, just something emotional” and painted a tribute to the lion, an iconic attraction at Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.
